The auditions begin, and only the very worst singers can go through. Carrie Grant is shocked when people who can sing well audition for the show, while those who have always been told that they can't sing have their dreams come true, by making it through to the next round.

The Singers begin their singing lessons with mixed results. Things start well in Liverpool, but the Cardiff group barely get past the first note, and the London group rebel against their teacher. Will the London group be able to stay focussed long enough to learn anything? Meanwhile, the Birmingham group are concerned when their teacher spends more time teaching them about the mind than how to sing, and the Cardiff teacher is beginning to lose faith in her students.
